I liked being reminded about Elijah taking refuge under the Juniper tree 1 Kings 19:4-8 When he gave up all hope and Angel comes and visits him and tells him to eat to have strength for the journey ahead to the mountain of G-d.
The Juniper tree is a place to take refuge and reminds us not to give up hope. During the Israelites’ time in the desert with Moses, they camped at a place known for broom trees. Rithmah, one location where the Israelites made camp, was named after the broom tree, since Rithmah means “the place of Broom or Hope” (Numbers 33:18–19). Apparently, broom trees were plentiful in the area, and the location served as a suitable camp for the children of Israel.
In Ancient Israel Juniper berries were as incense for those who were ill with leprosy, in the red tent of women with hard monthly cycles, and used for various respiratory illnesses. It was used to purify the blood and ease the pain as well. Juniper can bring depth and dimension to a blend in perfume mixed with Cinnamon, Frankincense, and Myrrh.
Today topical treatments of Juniper help to warm tired or aching muscles, relieve the symptoms of arthritis and shift excess fluid from the system and calm a cough. When used in a diffuser, this pungent, cleansing aroma clears the mind of negative thoughts and improves mental concentration, and gives a feeling of hope תקווה and strength.
Blends well with cedarwood, lavender, rosemary, chamomile, or grapefruit, black pepper, cedarwood, cinnamon, clary sage, cypress, elemi, frankincense, fir needle, lavender, and oakmoss.
Lung purifier; potent, hardy, intense; purifying, visionary for hope and strength, warm, and calming.
*Please note Juniperberry is not to be used for a kidney cleanse if the kidneys are not healthy.
