Our honeysuckle hydrosol is made from freshly gathered flowers, buds, tender leaves, and young stems, all wild-harvested. We distill these to produce a light, earthy-sweet floral scent with just a whisper of honeysuckle’s nighttime fragrance. The aroma leans toward honey-green, sweet, floral, powdery, and earthy notes, so it’s not an overpoweringly sweet honeysuckle scent, but is oh so gorgeous. Each batch is a unique gem, distilled in either copper or glass stills.
Fresh flowers alone don’t produce much hydrosol, but when combined with newly sprouted tender leaves and vines, they can yield a decent amount. Distilling fresh blooms, young stems, and soft leaves is a quick process that results in only a small quantity, so you’ll need plenty of material for a solid batch. Often, the mix is heavier on blooms than leaves (see pictures) and the outcome is so amazing! So, the time and effort are absolutely worth it.
When blended with other hydrosols like rose and geranium, it creates a lovely skin toner and is also great for making lotions and creams. Honeysuckle offers many healing properties, making it a valuable addition to any natural medicine cabinet.
