Our honeysuckle hydrosol is made from fresh flowers, buds, tender leaves, and young stems that are wild-harvested. Then we distilled the material to produce a lovely light, earthy sweet floral scent with the tiniest hint of honeysuckle. It is more grassy green, sweet floral powdery earthy. So do not expect an overly heavy sweet honeysuckle aroma. It is definitely a treasure in itself. batches are distilled in either copper or glass stills.
Fresh flowers cannot be distilled for a lot of hydrosol, but flowers along with fresh tender leaves and vines can produce a good amount of hydrosol. Distilling fresh flowers, young stems, and tender leaves the distillation process is very short and produces a small amount of hydrosol so in order to get a good volume of Hydrosol we do have to use a lot of material in distillation and is so worth the labor and time.
When mixed with other hydrosols such as rose, and geranium it makes a nice skin toner, Also perfect for making lotions and creams. Honeysuckle contains many healing properties which make it a valuable addition to the natural medicine cabinet.
