When distilling this resin the yield of essential oil is extremely small in comparison of other Frankincense species. This is why you may see the essential oil of this resin have a high price tag to match simply because it takes upwards of 4-6 lbs of resin just to get a substantial amount of essential oil after it is distilled. Papyrifera, a type of Frankincense, is known by its by high levels of octyl acetate, octanal, incensole, and incensole acetate. These chemical makers are very unique in this frankincense resin.
