Papyrifera, a type of Frankincense, is known by its by high levels of octyl acetate, octanal, incensole, and incensole acetate. These chemical makers are very unique in this frankincense resin. Octyl acetate is found in natural alcohol and orange peels, while octanal has a fruity aroma and sweet citrus in flavor.
Boswellia papyrifera can be distinguished from other types of Frankincense resins by the presence of large amounts of these chemical constituents. Studies have shown that incensole acetate affects the central nervous system by calming it down which is its most common use.
