An antihistamine helps reduce or block the effects of histamine, a chemical released during allergic reactions. They’re often used to treat conditions like allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, contact dermatitis, hives, angioedema, and itching from things like eczema or insect bites.
Symptoms: Inflammation of the nasal passages, sinuses, and eyelids that causes sneezing, runny nose, watery, red, itchy eyes, and wheezing.

Both of these conditions share the concern that using essential oils, which can thin the blood further and interfere with their medications, should be avoided.
