Beloved Plum Blossom Abs, the fragrant flower of the Prunus domestica and Prunus mume trees, is valued in perfumery for their fresh, light, and slightly fruity aroma. Both aromas features delicate floral tones and a gentle sweetness, mainly from benzaldehyde constituents, which adds an almond-like note. In perfumery, plum blossom absolute is a heart but can serve as a base note, bridging floral and gourmand accords together with grace and balance.
Small amounts of eugenol and benzyl constituents of both blossoms brings a subtle spicy and floral hints. Classified as a heart note, it’s usually used at less than 5% in fragrance blends. In perfumery, Plum Blossom offers a clean, understated floral with a cool, almond-like freshness reminiscent of East Asian winter blooms.
I’ve made a lovely CO2 a few times in the past, and it turns out just a little different each time. I’m happy to have produced this absolute, especially since I do have the skills to run full vacuum distillation equipment. What’s amazing is how incredibly fragrant this oil is, much like the shock I felt the first time I distilled cherry blossom and plum blossom to create hydrosols. I’ve been distilling those for about 18 years now every Spring season, And I just love the process so much, the sheer joy of foraging, and needless to say how these blossoms surprise me every time and how they give that love right back.
Blends Well With: Bergamot, Vanilla, Black Pepper, Cedarwood (all), Clove Bud, Frankincense (all), Pink Lotus, Lavender (all), Lemon, Neroli, Orange (all), Peru Balsam, Rose, Vetiver, Ylang Ylang.
Traditional Uses: antiseptic, styptic, sedative formulas, antidepressant, antianxiety, throat lozenges, raspatory issues, and is spiritually very uplifting. This oil is a soft, floral-fruity aroma with soothing, antioxidant, and balancing benefits for skincare and perfumery. Perfect for making perfumes, creams, or lotion formulas.
