Some say the aroma is very subtle soft floral, but I certainly say the opposite for my nose that it seems to have a nice obvious powdery lilac floral aroma. However, our experience is that it needs the warmth of the human skin to truly open up the floral aroma withing the material.
Madeleine Kerkhof-Knapp Hayes who is the Master Teacher and expert about CO2 extracted oils in the Aromatherapy world, she teaches when using proper dilution with the right carrier oil will bring floral CO2 oils which are subtle to open up more fully and their properties will be very effective in their intended uses. We suggest using Jojoba or Fractionated Coconut Oil for this one. However, some customers like using it as is which we find does not pull out fully the oil’s aroma potential.
Our premium quality Organic Lilac CO2 Total Extract is obtained from fragrant beautiful fragrant lilacs by pressurized supercritical fluid extraction using carbon dioxide as the solvent to extract the waxy oil mass. This method will effectively extract all the beneficial lipophilic constituents present in the fragrant blooms.
Once the extraction process is complete, the CO2 dissipates back into a gaseous state. Unlike hexane absolute extraction process, no trace of solvent remains in extracts produced by the CO2 method. This is an OMG Oil! Extremely long process but oh so worth it.
Lilac trees, Syringa vulgaris, produce exquisitely aromatic flowers, most typically during the spring. Although lilacs can range in color from white to mauve, they typically fall within the purple color palette. Do the different colors smell different? And the answer is no, but some colors are stronger than others. Some may have more of the sweeter green notes come out, while other is more powdery. Overall the lilac we all love is there in every color.
Although lilac blooms are highly aromatic, the aromatic molecules cannot be effectively steam distilled (except hydrosol) or extracted using hexane. Therefore, you will not find lilac available as an authentic essential oil or hexane extracted absolute, although we have proven it can be Sugar Cane Ethanol extracted as an absolute. See our exclusive handcrafted Lilac Absolute here.
There is a lot of so-called Lilac oils on the market but again nothing like this one. You will find a synthetic oil which is called an absolute but is not, in fact it is something you do not want to use at all! Some absolutes are in fact Lilac Enfleurage which is gorgeous and a long process if it is done correctly so check out our lovely batch.
Keep in a cool place to preserve freshness. Store away from direct sunlight, bright lights, and very hot humid temperatures. Dilute properly with a carrier oil before using on skin.
Cautions: In some rare cases there are people who are allergic to lilacs, so this oil may cause an allergic reaction; do not use on very sensitive skin; do not use if pregnant or breastfeeding.
