Lavandula stoechas, French Lavender, Spanish Lavender, Stoechas Lavender, Topped Lavender, Hebrew: אזוביון דגול. Lavandula stoechas is a striking variety to grow with its two-tone flowers. It has aromatic grey-green foliage with flowers that are ruby red with pale pink or light purple bracts on top. The flowers are especially attractive to bees and other pollinators.
A long flowering season and compact growth habit. Grow often in a sheltered, sunny position with well-drained soil. Most people like growing them in pots, containers, as well as hanging baskets, where they can enjoy the delightful flowers and fragrance of the foliage all summer into early fall.
Stoechas lavender varieties of Lavender are native to Israel in general, especially the purple-blue varieties. Some are from Spain and others from France, but all are native to Israel and the Middle East. The aroma is very strong, much like French and Spanish lavender with a spice bite. The oil color is bright yellow amber to red amber in color. Just Marvelous!
