Ingredients:
Tangerine טנג’רין (Citrus reticulata) Israel- Means to rule
Jasmine יסמין (Jasminum officinale var. grandiflorum), India- Means Gift from G-d
Inspiration:
Jasmine is not mentioned specifically in the Bible, however, it is in the genus of shrubs and vines in the Olive family and means “gift from G-d”. In 2010 as the sun was setting while walking in the tangerine (Ori Jaffa tree) in Jaffa Israel there was a shrub of Jasmine flowers growing next to an old olive tree in one of the small groves and as the aroma of the jasmine . The combination of citrus and flower just tickle the nose. Thus this is where the vision of combining these two beautiful aromas together was born. Rivka’s favorite blend to wear.
Jonah went to Jaffa to catch the next boat out. During Yom Kippor we read the book of Jonah. This story shows us it is never too late to turn back to G-d. Have the passion to be bold, brave, and most of all not be afraid to be at peace. Jaffa in Hebrew means Beautiful. Jaffa probably remained a prominent port over the successive centuries, even after the destruction of the First Temple and the Babylonian Captivity. When the time came to build The Holy Temple, again Jaffa was the port of choice for bringing in goods from Lebanon, echoing (perhaps deliberately) the role the city played in the earlier construction.
In the Bible, we also read that the tribe who built the Holy Ark of Covenant for the Tabernacle and later Beis HaMikdash (Holy Temple) Dan was in Japho another spelling of the city of Jaffa. And the seventh lot came out for the tribe of the children of Dan according to their families…And Mejarkon, and Rakkon, with the border before Japho. Joshua 19:40,46 Later Dan rebels against G-d after the tribe moves out of the City. Dan became ungrateful and moved out of the Port City and later dispersed into the nations.
Then we see how the Port was so important to Israel and the building of the Holy Temple “And we will cut wood out of Lebanon, as much as thou shalt need: and we will bring it to thee in floats by sea to Joppa (Jaffa); and thou shalt carry it up to Jerusalem.” 2 Chronicles 2:16. We believe because of this is the reason the Port still grows the most beautiful citrus in the world.
