Commonly known as Southern Magnolia, one of the oldest known varieties of magnolia trees which many call the Heirloom Magnolia. A classic tree in any landscape, the Southern Magnolia is an easily identifiable tree with large, glossy, dark green leaves and gorgeous white large flowers. Leaves are dark with a red, rusty-colored underside. The flowers produce distinctive bright red seeds in cone-shaped pods that adds to the beauty of this variety.

While native to the Southeastern U.S.A., it has been growing all over the eastern seaboard. However, we find the aroma of truly grown southern heirloom Magnolia should be experienced, from the southern soil from which it is native. You definitely will not mistake this one as the same as a magnolia oil from China. Cannot deceive a keen nose!

We harvest these flowers from a family-owned small farm in the Southeast USA that has two Heirloom 40-year-old White Magnolia Trees on the property. We harvested these flowers very late at night or just before dawn, when their aroma are strongest. Sustainable and ethical harvesting is a paramount must. Never strip a Magnolia tree entirely of its blossoms, as this can harm its overall health, and never take buds that have yet to open fully.

Instead, gather only the petals that have been on the tree for many days before petals change color or have gently detach a few from different areas of the tree. Early dawn morning harvesting, after the dew has evaporated but before the sun becomes too intense, maximizes fragrance retention, as the whole molecule essential oils are most concentrated.

We then created our maceration enfleurage them into fatty oil combination to get the best maceration results. Most of what you will find is magnolia oil from Asia and China. Real  true Southern  Magnolia flower oil overall  is around $300-$380 per ounce. It takes a lot of flowers to create this lovely oil.

What is an Enfleurage? Traditionally, this Enfleurage maceration oil involves embedding magnolia petals in odorless fat (typically shea butter or vegetable oil like coconut or bobossou oil) to absorb their fragrance. This method is particularly suitable for delicate florals like magnolia, as it minimizes heat exposure, preserving the subtle nuances of the aroma.

Sometimes, to separate the fatty oils from the essential oil a perfumer’s alcohol is used. We did not use any alcohol in the extraction, so this oil is a whole molecule ready to wear perfume that is extremely rare from true southern magnolia blossoms. we also did a maturation of the oil, by allowing the infused oil to sit for several more weeks to further refine the scent mesh with it’s carrier oil to form a waxy yet pourable oil

This elegant Magnolia flower essence has a soft yet complex aroma that is sweet and truly unique. With citrus top notes, luscious layers of light, sweet white flower petals, and beautiful undertones of robust peach and ripe apricot. Magnolia’s aroma is multi-layered and reminiscent of sweet things like sparkling champagne, a bouquet of wildflowers, and freshly picked fruit. This oil is just heaven in a bottle.

Therapeutically, Magnolia is said to increase circulation, act as a sedative to relax sore muscles, calm skin irritation, also beneficial and relaxing to both the mind and body. It makes a lovely natural perfume.

Our Magnolia Flower Enfleurage Maceration is still an Essential Oil because its in there but readyto use and is highly recommended for lovely skin serums and salves, as well as magnificent massage oils.
