Limetta is known as Judean Sweet Lime, Esther’s Hadar (goodly fruit), during the British mandate was known as Palestine Sweet Lime. Other names are Persian Sweet lemon, Limu Shirin, and Armenian noumi.
The fruit was grown from seedlings that were introduced from Persia known as modern day Iran of the middle east and were planted in Israel. Its name is Limu shirin meaning sweet lemon in Persian. The tree must grow for 10 years before harvesting its fruits. Some locals say that it was brought in from Iran Persia during Queen Esther’s reign in Persia which is why it is called Esther’s Hadar (goodly fruit) or Judean Sweet Lime. Since then Limettas are a pure delicious delight in Israeli cuisine.
Origins for Limetta is from Iran. Also referred to as Citrus limetta Risso cultivated in the Mediterranean region for its fruits, which are, effectively, sweet limes. Limetta is a florally, extremely juicy sweet-sour citrus cousin to the families of limes and lemons and is a wonderful culinary delight. Limetta aids digestion when using a carrier oil to rub onto the tummy area by neutralizing the acidic digestive juices produced by the stomach and flushing out the toxins from the excretory system. Also, recent tests show it may be quite effective prevention against colds, flu, and cv19 when used in an air diffuser.
