Kewda Attar is extracted from the flower of “Pandanus odoratissimus” commonly called as screw-pine tree. This plant grows along the east coast of India.
Obtained through the process of steam distillation, Kewra Attar contains majority Kewra Pine essential oil, the remaining is Sandalwood oil.
The Kewra Pine shrub grows both male and female blossoms but it is the male blossoms that are distilled for this heady, fruity and mysterious rare attar essential oil. It is collected early in the morning like so many delicate flowers, using up to 25,000 per charge.It possess sweet smell and hence widely used in the making of beauty products. Additionally, it is also used in aromatherapy treatment.
Kewra Pine is a native of South East Asia and is much cultivated on the Indian East Coast, for example in the Ganjam district of the Orissa province. The trees are found growing along seashores, banks of rivers, ponds, and canals. The male flowers have a pleasant fruity-rosy aroma. The plant grows both male and female flowers.
Constituents: Kewda flower fruit and leaf, pure sandalwood essential oil and other botanical essential oil proprietary blend. Kewra Attar is made using 3-5% percent Kewra essential oil and the remainder of Sandalwood Oil however the ratio of kewra is higher in this blend. Pandanus is very pungent and fruity sweet aroma that would literally smack you in the face.
Uses: Due to its sweet and refreshing smell, Kewda Attar is used in perfumery industry for the making of perfumes and other scented products. In India, this is most popular and widely used perfume. In addition, the attar is extensively used in aromatherapy and meditation as it provide sense of soothing.
