Our honeysuckle hydrosol is made from fresh flowers and buds that are wild-harvested. Then we distilled the material to produce a lovely light, earthy, sweet floral scent with the tiniest hint of honeysuckle floral. It is sweeter, floral, powdery, light, and sweet green notes. So, do not expect an overly heavy, sweet honeysuckle aroma. It is a treasure in itself. This batch was distilled in a glass still.
Fresh flowers cannot be distilled for essential oil, but certainly can create a lovely hydrosol. Distilling fresh flowers, the distillation process is very short and produces a small amount of hydrosol, so in order to get a good volume of Hydrosol, we do have to use a lot of flowers in the distillation and is so worth the labor and time.
When mixed with other hydrosols such as rose and geranium it makes a nice skin toner, Also perfect for making lotions and creams. Honeysuckle contains many healing properties which make it a valuable addition to the natural medicine cabinet.
We like using this one as an after-shower spray. Just spray and sniff immediately. You will smell a hint of sweet honeysuckle and an earthy green note. Your skin will feel soft. Do not spray on your face to avoid the eyes. Remember that all hydrosols have tiny essential oil molecules in them from the steam distillation process.
We also love to make a lotion or cream with this lovely hydrosol. Use it as a clay mask. We simply take Dead Sea powdered mud and add this hydrosol, mix, and apply to clear pores and soften skin. It’s just gorgeous!
