Grown and Distilled in Israel these Roses have a sweet rosey but delicate beauty and wonderful perfume not often found in modern hybrid tea roses. Most if not all Rose Hydrosols on the market are from tea roses These roses are an heirloom and with a wonderful aroma.
The flowers are renowned for their fine fragrance, and are commercially harvested for rose oil (either “rose otto” or “rose absolute”) used in perfumery and to make rose water and “rose concrete”. The flower petals are also edible. They may be used to flavor food, as a garnish, as an herbal tea, and preserved in sugar. It is the national flower of Iran.
It is not often mentioned or popular to to admit that Rosa damascena is actually rose hybrid, derived from Rosa gallica and Rosa moschata. There is some DNA analysis that has shown that a third species, Rosa fedtschenkoana, has made some genetic contributions to the Damask Rose (Rosa damascena).
