Color is Dark Yellow to Medium/ Dark Amber thin oil. Earthy, smokey, deep persistent, woody, somewhat peppery aroma with smokey notes of leather; has rich, sweet-woody undertones smell throughout the dry down.
Cypriol is from the rhizomes of the plant with a morphology similar to papyrus, as both plants are members of the “Cyperus Scariosus” which grows wild in all over Egypt and South Israel. Nicknamed Judean Patchouli Desert Smoke Grass, Coco Nut Grass, Egyptian Papyrus Grass or Se’d, Egyptian Nut Grass or Hashish Al-Saeed, and Judean Nut Grass and Gami Oud. The Hebrew word: גומא, gômê or gomeh; in the Mishnah and Talmudic literature, gomeh is called “Gami” and sometimes also called “Papier” grass.
This is NOT the plant as “Cyperus pertenuis” which is native to only India and parts of Australia.

Derivation of the botanical name:Cyperus, kyperos, kypeiros “galingale, sedge”; Latin cyperos, the name cyperis, idis was applied by Plinius to the root of the Cyperus, scariosus, rotundus, round, spherical; rounded.
This papyrus grass is the same one used in Ancient Egypt, Israel, and much of the Middle East. The plant is mentioned in the ancient texts of Talmud and the Bible. Cypriol may have anti-inflammatory making it a promising area of research for modern medicine.
Extracted from the roots of the Cyperus scariosus plant through the steam distillation process, Cypriol essential oil has a rich scent which is woody almost like a fusion of cedar, slightly smokey vetiver and argarwood oudish aroma together with a earthy sweet grass hay like aroma, with a trace of spice bay Leaf and black pepper notes.
This essential oil has a complex chemical composition includes several important constituents, including cyperene, caryophyllene, cyparone, and longifolene. These compounds are responsible for the oil’s distinct aroma and therapeutic properties.
In addition to these compounds, cypriol essential oil also contains several other chemical constituents, such as patchouli alcohol, isocaryophyllene, and α-selinene. These compounds contribute to the oil’s anti-inflammatory, antifungal, and antibacterial properties.
