Cinnamon has been held in high regard as a natural cure-all and health treatment throughout most of history. The spice was shrouded in mystery for many centuries as few really knew where it grew, although it was later discovered to be native to asia, Sri Lanka specifically, and the Middle Eastern world.
Cinnamon is mentioned in Exodus 30:23; Proverbs 7:17 and Song of Solomon 4:14, 2 Chronicles 9:9, and 1 Kings 10:10,15,25. Cinnamon was considered a glorious spice and was quite expensive.
