A Luxurious Blend of Israeli Botanicals & African Botanicals
After receiving countless requests from our customers for a black soap that combines Israeli-grown ingredients with authentic African shea butter, we set out to create something truly special. We consulted with experienced women soap artisans from Ghana and conducted extensive research to develop this exceptional formula.
African Black Soap is more than just a soap, it has traditionally been cherished as a natural remedy, with recipes and methods varying from family to family across Ghana. Every family may have its own unique version, passed down through generations.
However, one of the biggest concerns we found with many traditional African black soaps is their harsh textures. All these soaps have sharp coconut shell pieces and coarse particles, sand, and the gritty texture of plantain ash, which can scrape, irritate, burn, and potentially tear the skin, making these soaps just unsuitable for people with sensitive skin.
Through our research and testing of soaps from different makers, we found that the exfoliation can simply be too aggressive. While African black soap may offer several potential skin benefits, we believe those benefits should never come at the expense of skin safety. Safety and skin integrity should always be the top priority.
Our soap will never replace the traditional Ghanaian black soap recipes, and we wouldn’t want it to. Instead, we created our own unique interpretation, bringing together carefully selected Israeli-grown ingredients with authentic African shea butter and thoughtfully chosen botanicals.
The result is a black soap that honors tradition while offering something new: a special blend that is made in a kosher environment, safe and clean ingredients, and uniquely our own. Please note each bar looks the same and is made to look a bit rough around the edges, grey black marvel, brown in color, and we like it that way!
Our carefully selected blend includes Israeli-grown and produced Argan Oil, Olive Oil, Black Seed Oil, Black Castor Oil, Black Seed Powder, Frankincense Sacra Oil, Balm of Gilead Oil, and Sweet Myrrh Oil, Spicy Clove, Sweet Anise Powder, along with sustainably sourced Israel Desert Date Oil.
These distinctive Israeli botanicals are combined with fair-trade sustainable African Shea Butter, finely grounded and sifted Plantain Ash Powder so there is no grit and sharp pieces, which we blended with African sustainable fair trade traditional Black Palm Oil and Black Palm Powder. These ingredients rooted in time-honored skincare traditions.
The result is a rich, thoughtfully formulated black soap made in a clean and safe environment, honoring the natural beauty of both Israeli and African botanicals. The aroma is a sweet licorice, frankincense, and myrrh resiny scent which is a real delight with smokey notes of black palm and clove. A thoughtful blend of botanicals and is an absolute marvelous black soap to experience.
