Cistus floral wax is derived from the flowers of the Cistus ladaniferus plant, also known as rockrose. The wax color ranges from amber orange to amber brown. The wax is medium to hard in form. It takes a bit of coaxing with heart to get the wax to melt, but when it does the effort has so many rewards. It is used in cosmetics for its beneficial properties, including moisturizing and soothing effects on the skin.

This is not the black resin from the plant. The plant does produce a sticky, stretchy black resin, also known as labdanum, which was used in ancient Egypt for various cultures for its healing properties. This wax from this product is made from the flowers that were processed as an absolute and leaves the wax part of the process.

Cistus Cistus ladaniferus, also known as rockrose, is a beautiful and powerful plant with a rich history of medicinal and therapeutic use. Cistus ladanifer is native to the Mediterranean region, particularly Spain and Portugal. It is also native to Israel, Syria, Lebanon as well as Egypt.

Floral and other botanical waxes are easy and very forgiving to use as well as very cost effective in the exploration stage of production and waxes can add body and even texture to a composition or formula where needed.

Perfect for making beautiful soaps, skincare, lotions, hand-whipped skin creams, and solid perfumes. Just delightful!
