Some things to know about the Watermelon:

Watermelon is an Israeli past time in cuisine and drink. Since there is no way to really produce watermelon Essential oil we came up with a blend that pays respects to a Holy Land Favorite aroma treat for summer through the fall. Celebration and Joy for the people! Watermelon is often associated with joy and community, reflecting themes of fellowship common in biblical feasts and celebrations.

Renewal and Refreshment: The fruit’s high-water content symbolizes spiritual refreshment and renewal, paralleling Biblical promises of revitalization. Often thought of spiritual growth like the seeds of watermelon symbolize potential and the process of spiritual growth, echoing the biblical principle of sowing and reaping.

Israelis love eating watermelon salads, juice it for a fast-cooling treat, and not to mention other amazing deserts and cocktail drinks. The watermelon has been apart of Israeli life since Biblical times. Watermelons are mentioned in the Bible in Numbers 11:5, where the Israelites express their longing for the foods they enjoyed in Egypt, including melons. This reference highlights their struggle the heat and lack of water and hunger during their long journey in the wilderness. Sages tell that they long to plant the seeds of the melons and other plants seed they carried in the home G-d had promised.

“We remember…the melons.” Does this refer to sweet melon or watermelon? Both certainly grew in Egypt; both were delicious and would have been invaluable in the heat of the wilderness. It was not uncommon to see camels carrying these large melons to drink and eat to cool the traveler. The word is used in the verse was plural and could have been both! The watermelon is Citrullus vulgaris; the sweet melon, Cucumis melo. A good watermelon could weigh thirty lbs., and a large sweet melon six to seven lbs and can easily been carried by camel or caravan across the vast dessert.

The watermelon is a source of comfort and even strength. It describes the resilience of the Israelite People, the hard shell on the outside represents endurance but the so soft red and sweet on the inside represents the sweetness of the people. Embracing Sweetness: Enjoying watermelon serves as a reminder of gratitude for all of G-d’s blessings and the importance of sharing joy with others.

The fact that the watermelon has been hijacked and used as political statement is absurd especially when the watermelon has always been a symbol of abundance and sharing with others. Watermelon embodies G-d’s blessings and provision, representing spiritual nourishment and abundance in life. Let’s give the watermelon the proper respect it deserves and show the proper Joy it really is!

Watermelon often appears in celebrations. It signals joy and fellowship, mirroring Biblical feasts. For example the watermelon as a refreshing salad paired with feta cheese is a Shavuot and Sukkot holiday favorite Passages like Nehemiah 8:10 remind you that joy in the L-rd is your strength.

Sharing watermelon with others can foster community and celebrate G-d’s goodness. Watermelon brings people together not create divisions. Israeli Cultural Significance: Historically, watermelon has represented abundance and prosperity, enriching its connection to Biblical themes within various cultural contexts.

Archaeological findings in the Nile Valley and many parts of the middle east not just Israel and Egypt show that watermelon cultivation dates back to 4,000 years ago shows how much people cherished the watermelon. In Egypt often depicting it in tomb paintings as a source of sustenance for the afterlife. The fruit’s presence in historical contexts illustrates its longstanding association with fertility and divine blessings.
