Description

Scarlet Resin Abs

Extremely RARE Essential Oil-5ml

Latin Name: Croton lechleri

Other names dragon’s blood

Biblical Name: Scarlet Resin (see texts below)

Cultivation: Wild-Harvested Natural Solvent extracted

Country of Origin: Peru

Solvent Extraction Absolute

Aromatic Scent: Astringent, slightly fruity, slight acridity spice. I would describe it as slightly latex liquor medicinal aroma much like a soft vetiver note without the smokey notes which is very much like the resin of Croton lechleri smell like when it is burned.

Color: Semi Thick Viscous Deep Red Amber.

Parts of Plant Used:  Dried Resin /Bark

The Scarlet Resin Abs is very rare. No one really wants to distill the resin or make an absolute oil because it just does not produce an aroma but we disagree. We decided this resin is worth the process of being Naturally Solvent extracted much like Myrrh Oleosin to bring out more of its medicinal aroma and properties.

This Scarlet Resin is a resin that is deep blood red in color extracted from trees in South American, Amazonian Rainforest. We dislike the name Dragon’s Blood which is a silly name for this resin. We like to claim what G-d has created for healing is to be understood as such. And it symbolizes strength, protection, covering, warm healing, and purification.

Most likely this red tree sap was used to create the scarlet dye in garments in the middle east. While some nations were using bugs and worms to dye clothing red the nation of Israel was most likely using a red tree sap similar to croton lechleri, and this tree can grow both in tropical and desert climates.

The scarlet dye known as shani in Hebrew was used in the Holy Land during the Biblical period. This dye was widely used for religious rituals in the second temple until the Temple’s destruction in year 70. Early writings of Torah such as the story of Rahab may have used this resin to dye her scarf red that hung outside her window as a signal for the two spies she his to save her as they had promised. There is a midrash that says that it was from a tree a red sap was used to dye the garments red which was used in the Temple. It also may have been used as a varnish for instruments like Harps. Lyres and Drum heads.

The “rams’ skins dyed red” mentioned in Exodus are still made in Syria. After the ram’s skin has been tanned in sumac, it is laid out on a table and a solution of the dye, made by boiling resin tree sap in water, is rubbed on. After the dye is dry, the skin is rubbed with oil and finally polished. The original tree resin sap that was used has been lost so other methods are used today. Much like Tekhelet blue the source is disputed, so too there is much dispute about what the real source of Tola’at Shani red color comes from.

The dragon’s blood known to the ancient Romans was mostly collected from several types of croton which are mentioned in the 1st-century sources. It was used by the Romans and Greeks as a dye, painting pigment, and medicine (respiratory and gastrointestinal problems) in the Mediterranean basin, and was held by early Greeks, Romans, Hebrews, and Arab Egyptians to have medicinal properties. Dioscorides and other early Greek writers described its medicinal uses. Some species of trees are found in parts of Yemen, located in the Arabian Sea, Jordon, and of course a few trees in Israel.

Croton lechleri  will stain your clothes, however, on the skin, it can turn white when rubbed to apply to stop a bleed and clean the wound we are reminded of the texts that say “sin is scarlet, but will be made white as snow.”

Bible texts of Inspiration:

Isaiah 1:18

“Come now, and let us reason together,”

Says the L-rd,

“Though your sins are as scarlet,

They will be as white as snow;

Though they are red like crimson,

They will be like wool.

The blessing we read over the Mother of the home who is called Eshet Chayil (Woman of G-d a Woman of Valor) we read:

Proverbs 31:21

She is not afraid of the snow for her household,

For all her household are clothed with scarlet.

There are texts which do possibly allude to this resin or tree called Scarlet. Some commentaries say this refers to scarlet yarn but it is implied and adding to the text. The texts only say ” Scarlet” or “the scarlet,” not scarlet yarn which is not in the texts anywhere, neither is there the word for “bound – קשר” in the text to indicate it was yarn.

Leviticus 14:4 | Then shall the priest command to take for him that is to be cleansed two birds alive and clean, and cedarwood, and scarlet, and hyssop:

Leviticus 14:6 | As for the living bird, he shall take it, and the cedarwood, and the scarlet, and the hyssop, and shall dip them and the living bird in the blood of the bird that was killed over the running water:

Leviticus 14:49 And he shall take to cleanse the house two birds, and cedarwood, and scarlet, and hyssop:

Leviticus 14:51 | And he shall take the cedarwood, and the hyssop, and the scarlet, and the living bird, and dip them in the blood of the slain bird, and in the running water, and sprinkle the house seven times:

Leviticus 14:52 | And he shall cleanse the house with the blood of the bird, and with the running water, and with the living bird, and with the cedarwood, and with the hyssop, and with the scarlet:
