Our rosemary extract is rich in Carnosic Acid, the key antioxidant found in both rosemary and sage. This phenolic diterpene, unique to the Lamiaceae family, is especially abundant in rosemary.
Carnosine is a peptide naturally produced in the human body, thought to have strong antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and neuroprotective effects. Rosemary is said to help the body produce it. That said, research on carnosine’s benefits is still limited and the findings are mixed, though many people praise its healing qualities. Rosemary is also high in 1,8 Cineole oils, so like all substances rich in these oils, it should be avoided for use with young children.
The importance of the diterpenic and rosmarinic acid content in the biological activities of rosemary extracts has been studied previously, but how the relationship between the concentration of these components affects their antioxidant and antibacterial activities has received little attention.
Rosemary Bark CO2 Extract has a variety of topical uses in the cosmetic world, including moisturizing creams, facial ointments, and haircare products. It also adds a pleasant touch of color to lotions and creams, while providing extra antioxidant benefits. This oil makes a great addition to a focus blend with Vetiver, Rosemary, Peppermint, and Lavender.
