The specific epithet persica refers to its widespread cultivation in Persia (modern-day Iran) and in the Holy Land of Israel, whence it was transplanted to Europe. It belongs to the genus Prunus which includes the cherry, apricot, almond and plum, in the rose family. The peach is classified with the almond in the subgenus Amygdalus, distinguished from the other subgenera by the corrugated seed shell.
Peach oil is rich in essential fatty acids (vitamins C and F). It softens and nourishes and promotes skin cell regeneration, gives a soft feeling and smooth skin appearance. Improves elasticity and increases the moisture level of the skin, because it creates a thin coating that prevents rapid loss of moisture through the epidermis layer. It is well absorbed and almost leaves no sense of oiliness. It is name a “resuscitation” oil for dry, sensitive and non-essential skin, and it is recommended to combine products for all skin types, especially for sensitive skin.
Most commonly, vitamin supplements contain apricot kernels that promote healthy blood flow and prevent occasional irregularity.
