This orris root CO2 is a real game changer. For many years I have distilled the blossoms for a lovely soft lily like floral violet like hydrosol, produced a resinoid made from grown and aged roots around about 3 plus years, and grounded dried roots into a powder that is really marvelous to make tinctures, body powder, hair powder and incense.
This oil is extracted by our newest partners in China from dried aged pallida roots and holds all the powdery violet scented irones we expect from the extract. It’s fatty and pourable like honey which means it can be used directly in an oil composition or easily diluted without melting or handing it further beforehand.
The scent holds on the scent strip for several hours and is that needed formidable tool to hold down those challenging and fly away top notes. Orris root CO2 is the fixative must have oil in your perfume tool kit. This is definitely an alternative to the paste butter we are all familiar within the natural perfume world.
Interesting to note the juiced down flowers made into ink of mainly Germanic and European iris were mixed with alum to provide the green color found in Medieval manuscripts and in many ancient art pieces of the time.
