Commiphora holziana

Natural Solvent Extracted

Resin from Kenya

Known as Bisabol Myrrh, Miriam’s Tears, and Hagar’s Myrrh

Rare to find on the market, Holziana Myrrh has an ocean almost sweet seaweed-like aroma which really separates it from other Myrrh cousins. Yet there is a hint of the classic myrrh as well hidden in its notes of fragrance.

The unique aspect of Holziana Myrrh is the unusual blue colouring of its bark. Its been sighted a master in the trade of fragrant resin, that these blue-barked trees are all over the landscape of Northern Kenya. When I first smelled the resin, I was very surprised by its incredible aroma profile. Just Gorgeous is a must-have in your perfume tool kit.

The name “Myrrh” originated in the ancient Aramaic, Hebrew language as the word for bitter, and is an Arabic word for “bitter”, Mar-מר. The name Mary, or Miriam in Hebrew, Mar-Yam, (מר’ם), its shoesh (root) is derived from this word and means the salt of the seas or bitterness of the waters, both plural; not referring to sweet waters but to salty bitter waters. I can see why this myrrh resin is known as Miriam’s tears.

Scriptural texts of Myrrh in the Torah/Bible **** Exodus 30:23, Esther 2:12 ; Psalms 45:8 ; Proverbs 7:17 Genesis 37:25 ; 43:11
