The Massoia bark is from the region’s family-owned land that is regrown Massoia tree that planted on the remote higher ground of Papua, with help from local farmers and harvester do this without endangering the area from deforestation by keeping in regrowth.
First collected and brought back to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Kew in 1875 the tree would have been known as Massoia aromatica. The genus includes more than 350 species.
Used in improving circulation and reported to have some aphrodisiac qualities. It has been used by Javanese and Balinese women to prepare a warming ointment, called Bobory to bring blood vessels to the surface under the skin for better circulation. Especially seen in lighter skin people.
However, Massoia Bark has a very unique aroma due to the high Lactone content. Lactone is a chemical compound that is rarely found in essential oils. Due to the high Lactone content, Massoia Bark is only recommended for diffusion and can really purify a room and leave the room with the aroma of sweet, coconut-like, fruity aroma that smells delightful. Massoia Bark promotes a calming and relaxing atmosphere.
I like also using this one in cleaning blends for bathrooms, kitchen counters and adding one drop to my wood oil cleaner for furniture. It is a wonderful aroma.
