Israel is well known for these little treasures grown in Israel. They are usually candied and sent all over the world. Europe benefits greatly from Israel’s kumquat crops.
Kumquat basically grows all over Israel and is often found growing alongside Jaffa Oranges and other fruits like Limetta, Etrogim and Mandrians.
We introduced the essential into our line in 2014 and we are glad we did the benefit are endless and very popular oil. We take both fruit and peel and Distilled it to get amazing hydrosol/hydrolat.
Kumquat fruit is the size of a large olive and can be eaten whole with the peel. They are found in Asia but these little beauties grow all over Israel and are also native.
The peel has been described as being sweet, and the flesh sour. Also known as Fortunella japonica kumquat has limonene the same main chemical component as Lemon, Lime, Etrog Citron, Joppa Sweet Orange, and other citrus essential oils.
