Paulownia tomentosa, or the Princess Tree, produces seeds that can be cold pressed to yield oil. This oil is valued for its beneficial qualities and is used in a variety of applications, from cosmetics to skin care.
This deciduous hardwood tree is native to central and eastern Asia as well as the Korean Peninsula. Known for its rapid growth and easily dispersed seeds, it’s considered an invasive exotic species in North America, where it has naturalized across much of the Eastern US, though it may only establish successfully from seeds under ideal conditions.
Collecting these seeds is no easy task. They burst from their pods and scatter to the wind, disappearing in an instant, and they’re so small, like a potato flake or even tinier, these seeds are hard to spot.
