Why a Child Proof cap is used? The FDA requires all products that has Methyl salicylate a chemical cousin of aspirin found in wintergreen essential oil to provide a child-proof cap. Thus, both belong to a category of anti-inflammatory analgesics known as “salicylates.” Do not consume methyl salicylate orally, because it is more toxic than aspirin.
