Orange-colored center lime is so out of this world good. Wow! When invited to do a workshop in the Philipines it was this fruit that caught my eye. The aroma and even how it looked just captured my attention. The fruit is grown in USA and South America too so the batches are small and in short in supply to distill.
We had to bring this one into our line. Israel is just now starting to grow these beauties. Next to Limetta this one is a favorite for making sauces, salad dressings, and other culinary delights and is coveted for perfume-making in some parts of the world. Eating the fruit has a look of a green orange, a citrus mandarin-like aroma but a spicy kaffir limey tang, and is oh-so-sweet to taste like a kumquat but sharp, tartness that is distinctively Calamansi.
Extraction: The Artisan processes the peels/rinds of the calamansi fruit which are cold pressed and then the left over peels and fruit is then steam distilled to collect and pull out as much essential oil as possible then the cold pressed peel essential oil is blended with the distilled essential oil to give a whole spectrum of this beautiful fruit. Much like the same process we do with our Jaffa Orange, Judean Lime, Etrog, and Judean Lemon essential oil.
We like blending this one with gorgeous Limetta, Kumquat, Joppa Orange, and Etrog Citron© for a wonderful citrus synergy that brings freshness and relaxation. Give energy when blended with Ginger and vanilla. Excellant blend with floral oils and deep green earthy herbal oils.
