Steam distilled Bergamot is not phototoxic. Furanocoumarins are present in cold pressed Bergamot, but the molecules are not volatile and remain behind during steam distillation. Although FCF Bergamot is bergapten-free and NON-photosensitizing, we still recommend using this essential oil carefully and always following proper dilution guidelines.
