Commonly known as Southern Magnolia, one of the oldest known varieties of magnolia trees which many call Heirloom Magnolia. A classic tree in any landscape, the Southern Magnolia is an easily identifiable tree with large, glossy, dark green leaves and gorgeous white large flowers. Leaves have distinctive in size and aroma and the tree grows bright red seeds in cone-shaped pods that add to the beauty of this variety. See Cold Pressed Magnolia Seed oil in our shop here
While native to the Southeastern U.S. it has been growing all over the eastern seaboard. However, we find the aroma of truly grown southern Magnolia flowers and leaves should be experienced that is from southern soil. Some tees have been grown from seed or seedlings in California. It does change the Aroma profile just a bit because it is not in soil from its native part of the United States.
We harvest these flowers from our family-owned small farm in the Southeast USA that has two Heirloom 40-year-old White Magnolia Trees on the property. We harvested these flowers at night when their aroma was strongest and steam distilled them to get the best essential oil results. True rare White Magnolia oil is about around $300 per ounce. It takes a lot of flowers to create this lovely oil. It is most certainly one of my most favorite flowers and leaves to distill next to Neroli and Orange leaves in Israel.
This elegant Magnolia floral green essence has a sweet green soft yet complex aroma that is truly unique. With citrus top green notes, luscious layers of light sweet white flower petals, and beautiful slight spice undertones of robust peach and ripe apricot. Magnolia’s aroma is multi-layered and reminiscent of sweet things like sparkling champagne or sweet white peach wine, a bouquet of wildflowers and rich green leaves, with freshly picked fruit. This oil is just heaven in a bottle.
Therapeutically, Magnolia is said to increase circulation, act as a sedative to relax sore muscles, calm skin irritation, also, benefit and relaxing to both the mind and body. It makes a lovely natural perfume.

Magnolia grandiflora contains phenolic constituents shown to possess significant antimicrobial activity.
Magnolol, honokiol, verbenone, isopinocamphone, (Z)-jasmone.The Aroma from distilled from live flowers of southern magnolia is dominated by three compounds: verbenone (18 %), isopinocamphone (9 %), and (Z)-jasmone (27 %). The two terpenic ketones alone have a camphoraceous aroma. Amazingly, they combine with Jasmine to create a beautiful and harmonic floral fragrance.
