Vetiver has an earthy, woody aroma characteristic of most essential oils derived from roots in the earth. It also has a rich, sweetly satisfying note that is both warm and masculine. Uplifting and warm, very grounding, thick, rich, earthy, and almost woody, it’s amazing it comes from a grass and roots distilled together. Very pleasing aroma, and centering. This Vetiver is Outstanding!
Vetiver, being a grass, does get around. It grows works over and is known by several names: Khus-Khus (Europe and India), Faek (Thailand), Kusu kusu (Malaysia), Vetiver (France)Larasetu (Java), Akar wangi (Indonesia) and of course Vetiver (Haiti). From each country, vetiver has an incredibly diverse aroma profile depending on where it is sourced from.
This one is from 2010 crop from Haiti which makes this one so very special. Vetiver is one of several oils I do like aging because it just get better with age like Patchouli and Sandalwood do. Haitian Vetiver is by far hands down my favorite for both its aroma and aromatherapeutic use. In light of all the struggles Haiti has faced over the years, does offers a means to a great economic growth. The oil from the region is dark amber in color, sweet and lightly smokey and earthy aroma. It’s important to note that the sweet wood profile comes from root and not the grass.
Blends with Angelica Root, Myrrh, Frankincense Sacra, Lavender Nard, Cedarwood, Patchouli, Scotch Pine and Geranium. Benefits are memory, focus, tummy rub for digestion, relaxation, pain relief, and creating natural perfume.
