White Sagebrush or Peach Artemisia essential oil is a rare and exotic oil that’s sourced from a plant native to the Western U.S. Its name comes from the Owyhee region in Idaho where the plant is widespread, and this region in turn gets its name from an old, alternate spelling for Hawaii. It has a very fruity smelling artemisia that is high in ester content. Has somewhat of a peach backnote, thus the nickname.
The essential oil is very high in esters, which make it extremely relaxing and soothing to the skin.Because this oil is high in ester content, it has some of the same benefits which the roman chamomile essential oil has. Owyhee is Organically grown and artisan distilled. This sweetly scented oil from a uniquely American artemesia species is a powerful anti-inflammatory and a delight for both the skin and the spirits.
Jeanne Rose a respected and well-known Vintage Aromatherapist states that this uniquely American essential oil is soothing and sedating, and is a wonderful alternative to Roman Chamomile. She goes on to say that it is an excellent addition to any skin care product, and a great stress reliever. It blends beautifully with Helichrysum for pain relief and skincare.
The plant has a long tradition of herbal healing among local populations, including being used for pain relief and digestive problems.
In aromatherapy, this essential oil is useful for its wonderful aroma, for its gentle effects on the skin, as well as for its pain relief and anti-inflammatory action.

The plant is native to North America where it is widespread across most of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Native Americans use the species as a medicinal plant, a source of fiber for crafting household items, and for ceremonial purposes.
The Dakotas used this plant to protect against negative thinking and energy to lift a persons lowly mood and to bring about a positive perspective. The Apache, Chiricahua, and Mescalero used this plant for spices while Blackfoot tribe used it as a drug for dermatological purposes. Gros Ventre also used it for skin repair as well as a medicine against cold, because of it also being antipyretic.
