What is required to produce light? There is the Perfect Light that is representative of Hashem and there is the perfect source of that Light represented by the perfect olive oil burning in the Mishkon. Few of us are on such a high Madraga (level). We have no Temple, No Tabernacle, No Holy Place, No Temple Menorah, No Temple sealed oil, No SinaiTablets of the Ten Statements (ie Ten Commandments)
- So what do we have? Answer we do have Torah. Let your soul glow with the perfect oil of Torah in study of it’s words. We must construct the Holy Temple within our own whole being. Let you soul be so bright that when someone stands near you that they feel like they are standing near the Temple Menorah that illuminates Torah.
The first mitzvah we expect our children to fulfill is to live within Torah and it’s pages of study and to fully embrace it’s mitzvos with anticipation and clarity to perform each one with great happiness of great joy. My Daughter became a Bat Mitzvah this past week and the only thing that we can really give her is the light of Torah to carry into her adult life. It is Torah that can truly make a real impact to our future generations so that they will be strong and prosper. My daughter may not know what she is going to be when she grow up yet because she is only twelve years old. But we do! She is going to be who she has always been, a success a shining bright light a shining star a true Bat Mitzvah. Mazel Tov!
