“Know that each herb has its own poetry and melody.”
דע לך שכל עשב ועשב יש לו שירה וניגון משלו –Rabbi Nachman
In the Garden of Eden Adam and Eve had the privilege to hear the song of each fragrant plant singing in the garden. All the fragrant tree praising Hashem. We know in Isaiah 55:12 it says “You will go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and hills will burst into song before you, and all the trees of the field will clap their hands.” Do we have a hint that even the plants and tree can sing? But why can’t we hear it now?
Well, we do have to go back to the Garden to understand why? Mankind was living on a higher plateau in their minds in the Garden of Eden. Almost in a different dimension. We were living and walking on a higher ground in the way we thought so, therefore, we could hear the plants sing when we smelled its aroma. The DNA sequence of the garden plants was heard.
The Torah suggests that it was that world which was the more genuine one. A world where we actually walked in the cool of the evening with our Creator learning the secrets of Torah and the universe that He created and not only could we hear it, but we could hear the vibration and frequency of the Garden plants aroma now imagine that the next time you breathe in the aroma of your next flower or herb. And it is to that world that we still strive to return to walk with G-d in the cool of the day and listen to his creation and watch his word come alive before us.
It is said that when G-d first created all LIFE into being it was his voice that planted into all creation a song, his voice stamped into our DNA. The Rabbis comment on this verse is profound.
It was this sound that Adam and Eve could hear in harmony in all of creation in the Garden. We have a voice print of G-d’s voice within us.
The sad part of this story with Adam and Eve, G-d told us to keep away from a certain tree in the Garden to keep us from disconnecting from Him and that mankind would be reduced below our fullest potential and experience evil. The tree had no song or no Aroma. Exactly what is the “tree of knowledge of good and evil” Much is debated about this tree, but one thing is agreed upon the fruit was not right, it may have looked beautiful and more likely was without aroma because it lost its song. Our Sages conclude that the “knowledge of good and evil” is not just a knowledge of it, but a knowledge of experience.
It can be read in Hebrew as G-d saying, “By eating from this tree after I have told you not to, you will know good and evil by experiencing it.” The point is this placed mankind below the highest self-potential that G-d created us at. We lost our divine G-d given divine hearing. We lost the ability to hear the music of all life. Imagine everything around Adam and Eve suddenly it went quiet.
G-d made sure when we left the Garden with a divine gift that keeps us connected to the world of Eden. It keeps us connected to G-d. It is something that only our soul enjoys. G-d made sure since we lost that divine hearing the vibrations and frequencies of the Aroma of the plants and herbs, fruits and seeds we still had our noses to find what we need to heal ourselves through the divine sense of smell. But it gets even deeper than that, are you ready for this?
How often do we walk past plants and not give it another thought that they are a living, breathing organism let alone that they are communicating with other plants and insects! Nature truly is amazing! One of the most important points that I like to get my students to understand is that healing plants are smarter and adapt each year to the conditions in the environments. It’s like the healing plants know how to grow and adapt to the virus’ that’s going around that year. This is what I mean by intelligence. What’s cool is we can hear the aroma
Depending on each season the healing plants adapt and get smarter. so the oil’s chemistry is the same but some of the components may get stronger. An example of Synthetic medicines like antibiotics that might work once and never work again and people get sicker, healing plants have the ability to adapt to even the person’s changing condition using the healing plant in any form anywhere using a pure concentrated essential oil, to a tincture, to an infusion oil blend. The healing plants seem to have a mind of its own.
Our noses are not smelling chemical molecules, our noses are listening to their frequency. Which is why cyanide and almonds smell the same. Both smell molecules have the same frequency or wave vibration. Chemical molecules are playing music for our noses. Each smell has a frequency a vibration.
Smell receptor molecule in your nose is like a harp and it’s chemical bond provide the strings and it is ready to be played. The scent molecules contain particles of the electron as they leap from one atom to another they vibrate the bonds of the smell molecules which sound frequency that only our noses listen to and perceive as smell.
What if I told you that we now can hear the music of plants DNA, specifically the part of the DNA that releases the aroma we smell when we breathe in through our nostrils. We may not have divine hearing like we once had before in the Garden, but our sense of smell but we are given a divine way to hear the music of life through our nose. Our song, the song of G-d’s beautiful creation.
Aromatherapy isn’t just about “pretty smells.” Natural plant aromas have powerful healing effects on the human body and nervous system. Humanity evolved in the garden, immersed in a symphony of highly-active plant compounds — all advertising their beneficial content via rich aromas and flavors. Even today, our bodies still crave the ancient melodies of the Garden.
There are devices that can be hooked up to plants to hear their vibration and frequencies. But what is really neat if you take the DNA sequence code of a plants aroma receptor and out it into a midi player you would hear the frequency and vibration of the actual smell the aroma of the plant. DNA is a hereditary material found in humans, plants and almost all other organisms. Now for the first time, thanks to the advances in genetic research, we can now ‘listen’ to the scent of a flower by translating the actual DNA data responsible for the floral scent of plants and flowers into music.
For example here is the DNA scent of Lavender put to music by reading the DNA sequence recorded by Stuart Mitchell. Stuart Mitchell did not come up with the tune the plant did. The plant is the true composer. Stuart Mitchell just chose the instruments to play the plant’s tune. Take a listen to Lavender’s Aroma DNA sequence frequency.
Can you imagine that every plant, every living being on this planet sings and has its own melody? Not only do the plants heal you by being applied as an essential oil, or ingested as a herb but its melody heals you even though you cannot hear it audibly. You can hear it vibration and frequency by smell.
Not only that but did you know that the traditional Jewish response to negativity is to spread light, do a good deed to bring more goodness into the world. Watch how an Organic plant teaches a GMO plant to find its identity, its voice and heal its altercations. What we do right now, how we think right now puts goodness into the world to create Tikkun Olam. G-d’s holy word heals you, help you find your identity, your voice.
Psalms 71:23 “My lips will shout for joy when I sing praise to you— I whom you have delivered.”
Psalms 105:2 “Sing to him, sing praise to him; tell of all his wonderful acts.”
Psalms 101:1 “I will sing of your love and justice; to you, L-RD, I will sing praise.“
Psalms 150:1-5 “Praise the L-RD. Praise God in his sanctuary; praise him in his mighty heavens. Praise him for his acts of power; praise him for his surpassing greatness. Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet, praise him with the harp and lyre, praise him with timbrel and dancing, praise him with the strings and pipe, praise him with the clash of cymbals, praise him with resounding cymbals.“
Psalms 57:7 “My heart, O God, is steadfast, my heart is steadfast; I will sing and make music.”
We are created in G-d’s image to teach and heal by uplifting and caring for one another. To Praise G-d in healing song in unity and love. The way to combat negativity is to rise above it and show understanding and love as it was stamped in our DNA to be. Do not change the pan of the Temple built within where G-d built and dwell within you. Be extra kind to others, especially with those you share differences. Share that goodness of G-d light through his Holy Word to help someone else find their healing, their voice, their song.
Once you start to connect all these dots, you begin to understand the depth of nature’s intelligence, which always strives to maintain balance. This balance is what leads to healthy soils, healthy plants, a healthy environment, and, ultimately, healthy bodies. You are beautifully plugged into this system. We, as caretakers of the earth, have the free will to either protect and nurture it or destroy it. The fact that if we choose to poison the earth, we poison ourselves. If we chose to hurt someone else we hurt ourselves.
Imagine the healing a plant is when it comes from the Holy Land? Why Essential oils from Israel? Because when you use Israeli oils that are distilled, produced, or grown in Israel you are allowing the essence and frequency of vibrations of the Land of Israel to be taken into your body.
How to create shemen (oil) to be a light in this world? Essential oils will represent one’s potential to awaken from the deepest slumbers of the gulus (exile). Just plant kindness and in emuna (faith) it will grow. Your faith (emuna) will not only heal you but it heals those around you and brings healing into the world.
Another thought as I write this, essential oils and other products grown, made, or produced in Israel are the best essential oils in the world in my opinion. As far as essential oils go, in my opinion, the plants that are grown or even, just, distilled in Israel have a more vibrant frequency and vitality than any other oils. it is why we provide a large selection of Israeli grown and produced essential oils.
When a plant grows in a particular environment, the plant takes all its nutrition from the soil as well as the characteristics of the Land. When you buy an oil from Israel, you are receiving the actual essence of the Land in the oil. Whenever you use our oils you will always be putting a bit of Israel onto your skin. Just think when you diffuse Israeli oils you are bringing that aroma into the air of your living space which is like being in the Holy Land of Israel and hearing the song of its Aroma through your nose.
Sages say that Israel is described as the lover in Song of Songs which says that the perfumes of his spouse surpass the most excellent odors: How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume more than any spice! Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride; milk and honey are under your tongue. The fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon. You are a garden locked up, my sister, my bride; you are a spring enclosed, a sealed fountain. Your plants are an orchard of pomegranates with choice fruits, with henna and nard, nard and saffron, calamus and cinnamon, with every kind of incense tree, with myrrh and aloes and all the finest spices (Song of Songs 4:10-14).
What is your Aroma? What is your Song? Are you here to heal or are you here to destroy? What is your voice? What is your identity? Whether we chose to believe this or not affects the way we engage with the world and with one another. When our identity is established, and exemplified, our hearts purified by the word of G-d, we then become full embodiment of that image deep within our DNA, we can more clearly “sing” our unique songs as His Children. We truly know Him as the Almighty G-d our Creator, our Abba in heaven.
Did you know that a simple stroll through the forest may help you relax? Time spent in nature and deliberately engaging with nature through the five senses can dramatically impact your overall health and well-being. The Japanese culture calls this “shinrin-yoku”, or “forest bathing”, that has been shown to lower cortisol, pulse rate, and blood pressure, as well as boost the immune system. Gazing at nature and listening to the sounds of the forest are powerful pieces of the practice. There are so many benefits that the science show come from breathing chemicals called phytoncides emitted by trees and plants. These volatile essential oils contain active components such as limonene that have antimicrobial and immune-boosting properties.
