Commonly known as Dragon’s Blood*, this is the resinous sap which is also a popular resin to burn for incense in its resin tears or powdered form. Will stain clothing and Skin. Not recommended for people allergic to latex.
Traditional Folk Medicine used externally to wash and promote healing of wounds. Sometimes you will find this resin sold as red rock opium and has nothing to do with the opium plant.
This oil is a resin that is bright to deep blood red in color extracted from trees in South American, Amazonian Rainforest, Middle East, Africa, Southeast Asia, and China.
We dislike the name Dragon’s Blood which is a silly name for this resin and when you see leaves of the Cinnabari tree it looked like the shape of a dragon which might be where the same originated as the Blood of the Dragon tree. However, we like to claim what G-d has created for healing is to be understood as such. We give to G-d what He has created to be credited to Him only.
This Red Sap and Tree symbolizes strength, protection, covering, warm healing, and purification. Most likely this red tree sap was used to create the scarlet dye in garments in the middle east. This tree can grow both in tropical and desert climates.
Rahab may have used this resin to dye her scarf red that hung outside her window as a signal for Caleb and Joshua to save her as they had promised. There is a midrash that says that it was from a tree a red sap was used to dye the garments red which was used in the Temple. We are told in the Biblical texts to dye garments red and that sin is scarlet made white.
Bible texts of Inspiration:
Isaiah 1:18
“Come now, and let us reason together,”
Says the L-rd,
“Though your sins are as scarlet,
They will be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They will be like wool.
The blessing we read over the Mother of the home who is called Eshet Chayil (Woman of G-d a Woman of Valor) we read:
Proverbs 31:21
She is not afraid of the snow for her household,
For all her household are clothed with scarlet.
