These beautiful berries have long been used in traditional Chinese medicine to treat inflammatory conditions, cosmetic purposes, respiratory wellness, Blood sugar control, as well as bleeding disorders. As far as I can tell we are the very first to distill the berries for hydrosol
The common American variety of the plant called Callicarpa dichotoma or Callicarpa americana is also grown for ornamental purposes because of its bright purple berries. The American beautyberry is a woody, deciduous, perennial shrub that produces showy purple fruits in the fall that encircles the stem. It is a member of the Lamiaceae (mint) family and is native to the central and southeastern United States The berries and leaves are edible.
The berries become sweeter, tangy, and fruity when cooked. The leaves are often used for mosquito repellent. Clusters of purplish to bluish berries develop from August through October and may last to early winter. The berries encircle the stem with bright green yellow sawlike leaves. Native Americans use roots, leaves, berries, and branches to treat malaria and rheumatism, pain, and respiratory issues. The roots are also used to treat dizziness and dysentery.
This hydrosol can be used for DIY lotions and creams. Excellent for mixing with floral hydrosol for refreshing skin toner and skin repair. Help relieve stress and anxiety while relaxing the mind and opening the heart.
Please note: Never eat or plant the invasive Chinese Asian Beautyberry it has berries that HANG on stem and NOT encircle the stem. More bitter in taste and is not a native plant to the USA.
What is Hydrosol/Hydrolat?
Hydrosols are the aromatic remains following a plant, flower or tree resin steam distillation or Hydro-distillation process with similar, but much less concentrated properties of essential oil, and these include some of the properties of the whole oil molecules that you cannot get from just the Essential oil. This is like getting a whole plant therapy in a bottle that can be applied to your skin
These are made from my personal garden and from bushes that are pesticide and herbicide-free.
