About the Etrog in this unique blend:
While the etrog is generally grouped under the larger classification of citron, there are numerous varieties. Some are ribbed and bumpy on the outer rind. One variety even has finger-like projections, which is commonly referred to as finger citron. During biblical times, aside from religious ceremonies, the Etrog Variety which only grew in Israel was used for medical purposes for combating seasickness, and intestinal problems, and even as an antibiotic and antidote to poison.
The Etrog is unlike the more common citrus species we are familiar with today. While those more popular fruits are peeled to consume their pulpy and juicy segments, the etrog’s pulp is moist and sometimes dry, containing a small quantity of juice. The main content of a citron fruit is the thick white rind which cannot be separated from the segments easily. Other than Jewish religious ceremonies, today the citron is used for the fragrance or zest of its rind and for some medicinal use such as digestive issues, fertility, weight control, and treating ear ringing issues.
It takes a lot of Etrog fruit to create just 1oz of essential oil which is why comes with a higher price tag than the other citron cousins. We create it from the whole fruit which includes peels, rind, and pulp. We gather imperfect etrogim from various farms around Israel and distill it to a low temperature to get a more heart note deeper aroma and in turn, this process does produce just a little more essential oil.
Please note True “Etrog” only comes from the Holy Land. The use of the Hebrew word Etrog for any other citron oil is not Truly Etrog. It must come from Israel and there is currently only one producer of Etrog Essential Oil.

Rosh HaShanah (Hebrew: רֹאשׁ הַשָּׁנָה, Rōʾš hašŠānā, literally “head of the year”) is the Jewish New Year. The biblical name for this holiday is Yom Teruah (יוֹם תְּרוּעָה, Yōm Tərūʿā, lit. “day of shouting/blasting”).
