Sotah 11a, says it was in the merit of the righteous women of that generation that our forefathers were redeemed from Egypt. As you know, when we were in Egypt, we had backbreaking physical labor, but it was also a very bitter life. The tambourine played a significant role in the story of Exodus from slavery in Egypt.

After an exhausting day of excruciating labor, the women would polish their mirrors and use them to beautify themselves for their husbands. At night these women would sneak into the men’s camp to bring them food and hot nourishing drink. They would also heat the water in the fields and bathe their husband’s wounds.   The Jewish women would speak pleasant words to their husbands and tell them not to lose hope because God has made a promise, that He will bring mercy and redemption.

Standing among the leadership was Miriam and who is my all-time favorite woman of the Torah.   The Talmud comments that there were three leaders of Israel. They were Moses, Aaron, and Miriam. While Moses and Aaron were leaders for the people, Miriam was the teacher of the women. She taught the women how to find their strength, and she did this through music.

Miriam’s name means bitter, but it also comes from the root word “meri.”  “Meri” means rebellion, and despite being born into a harsh time in history. Miriam rebelled from the very moment she was born against slavery and the mentality that was engulfing her people.  She felt the pain so deeply; she used the emunah of her faith to guide her. Her rebellion was actually revealed in her name.  She found a way to stand up! Rashi explains that the midwives, Miriam and Yoheved, are both experts in soothing children to keep them calm and quiet in the night.  This way, Pharaoh’s Army would not hear the children crying. Miriam knew how to do this very well, which is how they were able to keep Moses quiet at night as a baby.   They did this by singing very quietly and very softly.

According to the Zohar, the singing voice, as well as the playing of music, specifically something of a string instrument, such as a lyre or harp, and drum could expel evil and bring victory.

Standing on the shores of the Red Sea the Jewish people, under the direction of their leaders and the women, who are under the direction of Miriam, experienced great gratitude and thanksgiving. Our sages described it as it was a time of celebration, and our rabbis teach that when Moshiach comes, when the Geula is here it will be the same amount of joy that we experienced at the sea, but even greater than before.  Preparing our tambourines and having them ready is one of the ways that we can hurry up the time being ready for that moment is of utmost importance.

In a sense, this is a rebellion against the oppression and disturbance that we see in the world today is a way of reflecting light onto that darkness and stamping it out.  Preparing your tambourines of celebration is a way to prepare for redemption.

Every woman has a song to share and give. Like taught to our ancestors long ago, we are to prepare for the moment even though we may not see it.  We are to have emunah to know that it’s there, that it will be, and it is going to happen.

So help one prepare for Moshiach’s arrival and celebration of Geula we also have created a blend and difusser locket to celebrate Miriam and her healing Song and Tambourine

Miriam®™ the prophetess, Aaron’s sister, picked up a hand-drum, and all the women went out after her in dance with drums and Am Israel followed. The act of the women was the most tremendous event for the Geula of Egypt. (Exodus 15:20)

The Jewish Sages tell that we should feel excited to purchase for our family special garments, fragrances, and even prepare the drums, flutes, violin for Moshiach’s arrival like Miriam and the women who followed her expected redemption from Egypt.

So we captured the essence of “Miriam’s Dance” in a bottle. The purpose of this blend is to bring joy and a renewed sense purpose. Each oil was chosen and carefully combined to capture the feeling of dancing and celebration when you inhale the aroma. We chose Israeli Lavender because it grows in the desert with Israeli Distilled Frankincense for Middle note and Sweet Israeli Distilled and grown Myrrh, along with Patchouli heart note as our base note because Miriam danced with joy from the heart and yet she was a strong leader. We chose two cistrus oils Sweet Jaffa Orange and Lemon for that refreshing by the sea feel and uplifting top notes
