When you hear “the enhanced efficacy” it is the knowledge which comes from understanding how multiple herbs work together, It is refrence to the amplified therapeutic benefits. Each herb has its own set of active compounds, and when combined, these compounds can work in tandem to boost each other’s effects. these effects can be delieverd several ways through a tea, through a tincture, or through as a simple food recipe.

There is a reason spices are mixed together for food not just for taste but originally also for medicinal reasons as well. A good pot of soup or broth are only as good as its spices to work to heal because of them.

A good example of how herb combinations work, certain herbs may improve one’s blood circulation, thereby enhancing the delivery of the therapeutic compounds of another herb to the targeted the digestive tract, nervous system, cells, or organs. This mutual enhancement means the combined herbal remedies can often produce results faster and more effectively than a single herb can.

The rule is the same with mixing Essential Oils. Often I get asked why do you have so many blends? This is the reason. However te real purpose of essential oil is to act as a time release capsule and get into the blood stream when it comes in contact with skin or inhaled by our noses. There is a reason its called “Aromatherapy”.

One of the biggest challenges in herbal medicine, as with any form of medication really, is the potential for negative side effects. Some potent herbs, while offering significant benefits, can also present side effects when consumed in large quantities. This is where the knowledge and beauty of herbal synergy really comes into fruition.

As with essential oils the same may occur but with less severity and so this is where knowledge comes into play. I am a true believer that ALL Aromatherapist must have at least 300to 800 hours of a complete working knowledge and education in herbal medicine. To become certified at least 800 hours are required with 300 hours in clinical work.

Aromatherapist would find an herbal education so much more rewarding in their work. I certainly do! I do find my Master Certification in Herbal Medicine and my Master Certification in Clinical Aromatherapy go hand in hand. I cannot imagine one without the other. I know my practice would certainly be different and somewhat missing and lacking if I had only one or the other in education. So I encourage ALL Certified Aromatherapists to get educated and reap the reward of giving your clients more well rounded treatments and not to mention better results.

By pairing herbs with others herbs and oils with other oils can mitigate negative side effects, herbalists and aromatherapist can craft remedies that are both more powerful and more gentle.

For example, a herb that might be harsh on the stomach can be paired with another that has soothing, and with anti-inflammatory properties, ensuring the remedy is both effective and easy on the body. Same for essential oils with the right carrier oils that are used as a tummy rub can also mitigate negative side effects and get greater results and is easy on our biggest organ our skin and cross the blood stream quickly and safely and act as a time release capsule.

I have said this time and time again if you want to ingest always think herbs first that is what they were created for in the firstplace. Example if you want lemon in your water do not use essential oils go buy a fresh lemon and pair that with some lemonbalm leaves! essenyial oils are not for ingesting.

However I do know there is extreme case where it can be done but its only in extreme case and must be under supervision of a Certified Clinical Aromatherapist and or your Physician as well. Read more about ingesting essential oils here

The core philosophy of holistic healing is the understanding the body is an interconnected system. Not just physical but emotionally and spiritual as well. Ailments or imbalances in one part can affect the whole overall body, mind and soul. When one considers how multiple herbs work together synergically, one is looking beyond just symptom relief, but aiming for overall harmony and balance to the body, mind and soul.

Herbal and Oil synergies, in this context, is about creating blends that address the very root cause of an ailments while also promoting overall well-being. For instance, a blend might include herbs or oils that relieve inflammation, combined with others to boost immunity and enhance moods all at the same time. Because we all know inflammation and pain are worsened with stress and negetive thinking too.

The result is a remedy which not only addresses the immediate concerns but also help promote maybe even a long-term health and vitality in the future. This gives your clients to trust you and come back when they need your services.

I always recommend to people to see a herbalist in person because each person is different who need that personal touch and acessment o determine the best course to take in treatment. this is why I do not always have herbs available on website.

It a request process online. Recently for example a customer recently asked for olive leaf for their mildly elevating blood pressure and not only did I have what she needed I also recommended hawthorne as well to work with the olive leaf in her system.

Even when she takes them seperately the two are working in her system together. After trying it she saw the results she came back and ordered more. And if that had not worked there are other combinations of treatments I could have her try to address her personally.

Notice I said personally. What works for one person may not always work for all. It also is important that clients and customers to be consistant in using the remedies to see the results they desire. What we herbalist and aromatherapist do know there are certain combinations of herbs and oils that will have a higher rate of success and yeah we will start there and tweek treatments until we do find what is right for you.

Master Aromatherapist Avraham Sand says “think of each oil as an instrument in an orchestra.” And I agree that this also applies to herbs. Individually, these herbs and oils can produce beautiful, distinct notes. But when played together, they create a symphony of healing which resonates deeply with our body and soul. This symphony is not just about volume, strength, or intensity; it’s about harmony, balance, and a intricate balance or dance of energy to heal, rejuvenate, and restore the whole person in mind, body, and soul.
